Ingredients:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 6 tablespoons cold butter
- 1 cup cold milk
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F with rack in upper portion of oven. Line cookie sheet with parchment paper for easy clean up.
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt, baking powder, and sugar together. Work the butter into the flour mixture using a fork or pastry blender until the mixture is crumbly.
- Drizzle milk over flour mixture. Mix quickly and gently until you have a cohesive dough. If the mixture is dry, add additional milk, 1 tablespoon at a time, until the mixture is cohesive.
- Place dough on a lightly floured work surface. Pat it into a rough rectangle about ¾ inch thick. Fold it into thirds and roll gently with a floured rolling pin until the dough is ¾ “again.
- Cut the dough into circles with a biscuit cutter or use a knife to cut into squares or diamonds.
- Place biscuits on the prepared cookie sheet. If you would like, you can brush the biscuits with milk.
- Bake the biscuits for 15 to 20 minutes, until lightly browned. Remove from the oven and serve warm.
