Ingredients
- 3 cups cooked lentils or beans
- 1 medium bell pepper, diced
- 1 pound lean ground turkey
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 8 whole wheat hamburger buns
Instructions
- In a large bowl, using a fork or potato masher, mash half of the lentils or beans, keeping the other half whole.
- Mix lentils or beans, bell pepper, ground meat, and egg with your hands. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Form meat mixture into 8 patties.
- Heat a 12-inch skillet to medium-high. Sear patties until dark brown on one side, then flip them and sear on the other side to 160°F.
- Serve on toasted buns with your favorite condiments.
- Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container within 2 hours.
